Check your plan, add the receptionist, and set up or confirm the Jobber phone number it answers.
Write what it says
A greeting that says it's an automated assistant, your services, towns and hours, and the questions it asks every caller.
Flag the urgent calls
The words that mean a call can't wait, like a burst pipe or no heat, so those reach you right away.
Forward your main number
Calls you don't pick up forward to the Jobber number through your carrier or Google Voice, so customers keep calling the number they have.
Get its texting approved
Jobber has to register the number before it can text. I gather what it asks for: your legal name, address, website and privacy and terms links.
Test it with you
A missed call, an after-hours call and an urgent one, then a walkthrough of where the summaries and recordings land and how to change the wording.

Pennsylvania texting rules
Written with the new texting law in mind
Act 47 of 2026 limits sales texts to 9 AM to 7 PM, never on Sundays or legal holidays, and bars computer-generated messages that deceive. Jobber leaves it to you whether callers hear that they're talking to AI.

About the Jobber setup
Do I need a Jobber phone number?
Yes. Jobber's receptionist answers calls to a Jobber number. Your main number stays the one customers call, and the calls you don't pick up forward to the Jobber number through your carrier or Google Voice.
What does Jobber charge for it?
On Jobber's Core, Connect and Grow plans the receptionist is an add-on: $29 a month for 30 conversations, then $0.79 a conversation. It comes with the Plus plan. Jobber bills you directly, and its prices can change, so check its pricing page before you add it.
Can I set it up myself?
Yes. Jobber's help articles walk through it. The $250 is for having it done in one go, on your real line, tested with you, with the wording written for your shop.
Will callers know it's AI?
Jobber leaves that to you. I set the greeting to say it's an automated assistant, because Pennsylvania's law bars computer-generated messages that deceive, and callers don't like being fooled.
Can I try it during a Jobber free trial?
No. Jobber doesn't offer add-ons during a trial, so you need a paid plan first.
What if I'm not on Jobber?
